Santa Maria pears is a slow growing tree. An Italian sort, which is imported in Bulgaria more than 75 years ago. The fruits mature around 15th-20th of July, early sort. The fruiting is abundant. Santa Maria’s speacial characteristic is that the fruits stay on the tree and do not fall like other pears. The fruits are very large, yellow and have a red tint on the side where the sun has shined the most. They are sweet, juicy, with a melting pale-yellow meat.
The pollinators for Santa Maria are Boksova Maslovka, Williams and others. Can be consumed feresh, conserved and can be storaged in a dark cool room for around 6 months. Can handle transportation, manipulation and processing very well.
